Measure the distance from the outside of the left bladetip to the ground
andthe distance from the outsideofthe right bladetip to the ground.Both
measurements takenshouldbe4".If they'renot,proceed to the nextstep.

Usingthe rightandleft lift rods,raise or lowerthe necessary s ide of the deck
until bothsides aremeasured a t 4" fromthe pavement.
Adjusting the DeckWheels
Keephandsandfeet awayfrom the dischargeopening of the cutting deck.
NOTE: Thedeckwheelsarean anti-scalp featureofthe deckandarenot designed to
support t he weight ofthe cuttingdeck.
Thedeckwheels shouldbeapproximately 1 /4-1/2" abovethe groundwhenthe deck
issetinthe desiredheightsetting.Toadjustthe deckwheelssee the Assembly &
Set-Up sectionforinstructions.
SeatAdjustment
Refer totheAssembly
& Set-Up section ofthismanual forseat adjustment instructions.
Beforeoperating the tractor, makesurethe seat is engagedin the seat-
stop. Engage the parkingbrake.Standbehindthe machineandpull back
on seat until it clicksinto place.
Parking BrakeAdjustment
If the tractordoesnot cometo acomplete stopwhenthe brake pedaliscompletely
depressed, or ifthe tractor'srearwheels canrollwith the parkingbrake applied
(andthe hydrostatic reliefvalveopen), t he brakeisin need of adjustment.See your
authorized service dealerto havethe brakeadjusted.
Wheel Alignment
If yourtractorpullsto onesideor isout of alignment,awheelalignment m ight
benecessary. Take yourtractorto anauthorized service dealerto havethe wheels
properlyaligned.

Battery

Jump Starting
Neverjump start a damagedor frozenbattery. Becertain the vehiclesdo
not touch, and ignitions areoff. Donot allow cableclampsto touch.
1.
Connect positive(+) cableto positive(+)postofyourtractor'sdischarged
battery.
2.
Connect the otherendofthe cableto the positive(+) postofthe jumper
battery.
3.
Connect the second cablenegative(-) to the otherpostof thejumper
battery.
4.
Makethe finalconnection on theengineblockofthe tractor,awayfrom the
battery. A ttachtoan unpainted part to assure agoodconnection.
If the jumper battery isinstalledon avehicle (i.e.car,truck), do NOT start
the vehicle'sengine when jump starting yourtractor.
5.
Startthe tractor(asinstructed in the Operation sectionof thismanual).
6.
Remove t hejumpercables inreverse o rderofconnection.
Charging
Batteriesgiveoff an explosivegaswhile charging.Charge the battery in a
well ventilatedareaandkeepawayfrom anopenflame or pilot light asona
water heater,spaceheater,furnace,clothesdryeror othergasappliances.
Whencharging yourtractor'sbattery,useonlyachargerdesigned for12Vlead-
acidbatteries.Bead yourbatterycharger's O wner'sManual p riorto charging
yourtractor'sbattery.Alwaysfollowits instructionsandheedits warnings.
Ifyourtractorhasnot beenput into useforanextended periodof time,chargethe
batteryasfollows:
1.
Setyourbatterycharger t o delivera maxof 10amperes.
2.
Ifyourbatterycharger i sautomatic, c hargethe batteryuntilthe charger
indicates thatcharging iscomplete. I fthe chargerisnot automatic, c harge
for nofewerthaneighthours.
If removing the battery, disconnectthe NEGATIVE (Black)wire from it's
terminal first, followed bythe POSITIVE ( Red)wire. When reinstalling the
battery, alwaysconnectthe POSITIVE ( Red)wire itsterminal first, followed
bythe NEGATIVE (Black)wire.
