Looking atthe cuttingdeckfrom the left sideof the tractor,locatethe bow-
tie pinon the rearleft sideofthe deck.SeeFigure 21.
Beforeservicing,repairing, o r inspecting,alwaysdisengagePTO, set parking
brake,stop engineandremovekeyto preventunintendedstarting.
A20AMPfuseisinstalledinyourtractor'swiring harness t o protect t he tractor's
electrical s ystem from damage caused byexcessive a mperage.
If the electrical s ystemdoesnot function,or yourtractor'senginewill not crank,
check to becertainthat the fusehasnot blown.It islocatedunderthe seat,
attached to the POSITIVE (Red) w ire leading to the battery.
Always usea replacement f usewith the sameamperagecapacityasthe
blown fuse.
Relaysand Switches
There areseveral s afetyswitches inthe electrical s ystem. I fa functionof the safety
interlock systemdescribed earlierisnot functioningproperly,havethe electrical
system checked byyourauthorized service dealer.
Cutting DeckRemoval
Toremove the cuttingdeck,proceed asfollows:
I.
Place the PTO inthedisengaged ( OFF) positionandengage theparkingbrake.
2.
Lower the deckbymovingthe decklift leverintothe bottomnotchon the
right fender.
3.
Workingonthe right sideof thetractor,inserta3/8"driveratchet w rench,set
to tighten,into squareholefoundon the idlerbracket. S eeFigure 20.

Usethe wrenchto pivot the deckdrive pulley forward. SeeFigure20.
Avoid pinching injuries.Neverplaceyour fingers on the idler spring or
between the belt and apulley while installing the belt.

Carefully remove the beltfrom aroundthe PTO pulley.

Remove the bowpinandslidethedeck pinout ofthedeck lift arm.See Figure 2 1.
Repeat the abovesteps on the tractor'srightside.
Pullthe bow-tiepinout of the front decklift rodsecuring it tothe deck.See
Figure 22.Slide the decklift rodout ofthe front hangerbracket.

Movethe decklift leverinto the top notchto raisethe decklift upandout of
the way.
There isacertainamountof spring tension dueto theweightof the deck. W hen
removing the lift linkagefromthe deck the tension ofthe springs will gofromthe
deck to thedecklift handleandsnapback.

Gentlyslidethe cuttingdeckout from underneath the tractor.
