Low Battery
Atstartup,the batteryvoltageisbrieflydisplayed thenchanges toaccumulated
hours.Theletters"LO"will display followedbythe letters"BATT" a ndthenfollowed
bythe meter's accumulated time."LO/BATT/TIME"
isdisplayed on the LCD whenthe
voltage dropsbelow11.5 volts.Whenthisoccurs, t he batteryisinneedof acharge
or the engine's charging systemisnot generating sufficientamperage. Charge the
batteryasinstructed inthe Service sectionofthis manual o r havethe charging
system checked byyourlocal s ervicedealer.
Air Filter Service
Theletters"CLN" w ill display, f ollowedbythe letters"AIR", f ollowedby"FILT", t hen
followedbythe meter's accumulated time."CLN/AIR/FILT/TIME"
will alternateon
the display for 7minutesafterthe meterreaches 5 0 hours.Thisairfilter service
mindertime intervalwill beevery50hours.Onintervals thatarecommon with oil
service, the oil message w ill bedisplayed first followedbythe airfilter message.
Operation
Avoidseriousinjury or death.Goup anddown slopes,not across. A void
suddenturns. Donot operatethe tractor whereit couldslipor tip. If machine
stopsgoinguphill, stopthe PTO andbackdown the hill safely.Keep safety
devices(guards,shieldsandswitches)inplaceandworking. Remove objects
that couldbethrown bythe blades. K nowthe locationandfunction of all
controls.Besurethe bladesandthe engine arestoppedbeforeplacinghands
or feet nearblades.Beforeleavingthe operator'sposition,disengagethe
PTO, engageparkingbrake,shutoff the engineandremove the key.
Safety Interlock Switches
Thistractoris equipped with asafetyinterlock systemforthe protectionofthe
operator. I f the interlock systemshouldevermalfunction, d o not operate tractor.
Contact y ourauthorized service dealer.
Thesafetyinterlocksystemprevents the enginefromcrankingor starting
unless the parkingbrakeisengaged, a ndthe PTO isin the DISENGAGED
(OFF)
position.
Theenginewill automatically s hut off if the operator leaves the seatbefore
engaging the parkingbrake.
ThePTO clutchwill automatically shutoff if the operator leaves thetractor's
seatwith the PTO inthe ENGAGED
(ON) p osition,regardless o f whetherthe
parkingbrake isengaged.
Withthe ignitionkeyinthe NORMAL M OWING _
_ position, t he PTO
clutchwill automatically shutoff if the PTO ismovedinto the ENGAGED
(ON)
positionwith the drivepedalinpositionfor reverse travel.
Donot operatethe tractorif the interlocksystem is malfunctioning. T hissystem
wasdesigned foryoursafetyandprotection.
Starting the Engine
Donot operate the tractor if the interlocksystemis malfunctioning. This
systemwasdesignedfor yoursafety andprotection.
flOTE:Refer t o the Assembly & Set-upsectionofthis manual f or Gasoline andOil
fill-up instructions.
I.
Insertthe tractorkeyintothe ignitionswitchmodule.
2.
Place the PTO inthe disengaged (OFF) position.
3.
Fullyengage the tractor'sbrake.
4.
Movethe throttle/choke controlintothe CHOKE _ position.
flOTE_ I ftheengineiswarmedup,it maynotbe necessary to choke theengine.
5.
Turnthe ignitionkeyclockwise to the START (_ position. A fterthe engine
starts,release the key.It will returnto the NORMAL M OWING _
position.
DoNOT hold the keyin the START positionfor longerthan ten seconds at a
time. Doingsomay causedamageto your engine'selectric starter.
Afterthe enginestarts,movethe throttle/choke control(if soequipped)
down intothe FAST,_ positionor pushthe chokecontrol(if soequipped)
down/inthe OFF position.
flOTE_ D oNOT leavethe chokecontrol o nwhileoperatingthe tractor.Doing
sowill resultina "rich"fuelmixtureandcause the engine to runpoorlyand
candamage the engine.
flOTE_ W henoperatingthe tractorbecertainthatthe throttle leverisalways
inthe FAST _
position. O perating with the throttleat lessthanfull throttle
mayleadto shortened batterylife.
Stopping the Engine
If you strike aforeign object,stop the engine anddisconnectthe spark
plug wire(s).Thoroughlyinspectthe machinefor anydamage. Repairthe
damagebeforerestarting and operating.

Ifthe bladesareENGAGED
(ON), p lacethe PTO inthe DISENGAGED
(OFF)
position.
2.
Place the throttle nearthe SLOW _
position.
3.
Engage the parkingbrake.
4.
Turnthe ignitionkeycounterclockwise to the STOP _ position.
5.
Remove t he keyfromthe ignitionswitchto preventunintended starting.
