Important info: Do-it-yourself repairs not covered in this manual will invalidate the warranty.

Safe handling

The 8-bay Rackmount NAS must run with all of its parts and units in place. In order to comply with applicable
safety, emission and thermal requirements, no covers should be removed and all drives must be installed
according to the instructions (see
Permanently unplug the unit if you think that it has become damaged in any way.
The 8-bay Rackmount NAS features three parts that are hot-swappable: drives; fans; and power supply
units). The NAS can remain powered on when replacing a hot-swappable part. For all other types of
maintenance and physical troubleshooting, shut down and disconnect power from the NAS. Only qualified
technical service personnel should be allowed to maintain the NAS.
Shut down and unplug the unit before moving it.
Caution: If this equipment is used in a manner not specified by Seagate, the protection
provided by the equipment may be impaired.

Safety

Power supplies

The 8-bay Rackmount NAS must be operated from a power supply input voltage range of 100 to 240 VAC,
50 to 60 Hz.
Make sure that the socket outlets are located near the equipment and are easily accessible.
Before removal/replacement of a power supply, disconnect the power supply cable for complete isolation.
