NOTE: Be sure to set the original in the correct direction
(horizontal or vertical). When enlarging or reducing an
original, the magnification ratio and the size of the paper
will determine the direction you place the original.

Set the direction of the original in accordance with the
magnification ratio and the size of the copy paper. If
the original is not set in the correct direction, part of it
may be lost when copying.

REDUCING /ENLARGING ORIGINALS AT A DESIRED
COPY RATIO
You can reduce or enlarge originals by any copy ratio,
selectable in 1% increments. When copying an original
from the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), use
magnification ratios between 50% and 200%. When
copying an original from the platen glass, use
magnification ratios between 25% and 400%.
Follow the steps below to reduce or enlarge an original
to a specific size.
1. Press F1 (COPY RATIO) to select ZOOM (1%INC).

❏ If you do not press Set within three seconds of
selecting ZOOM (1% INC), your selection will
automatically be set without you having to press
Set.

AUTOMATIC PAPER SELECTION
This function automatically selects the correct copy
paper for the original set in the unit to avoid loss of part
of the original, or excessive margins on the copy paper.
Follow this procedure to set automatic paper selection.

2. Press Set.

SELECTION
This function automatically enlarges or reduces the
magnification ratio, avoiding loss of part of the original

1. After setting the copy paper size, press F1 (COPY

This mode is only available for originals on the
Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).
If you have installed one of the optional paper cas-
settes, this mode is available for some special
copying features.

❏ Automatic paper selection cannot be used at
the same time as automatic enlargement/
reduction.
❏ If your unit has no paper the same size as the
original, it displays the message LOAD THE
APPROPRIATE SIZE. At this time, pressing
Start again selects the copy paper closest in
size to the original (avoiding loss of part of the
original or excessive margins on the copy paper)
and starts copying. To select another copy paper
size, press F2 (PAPER SELECT).
This mode is only available for originals set in the
Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).
When two-sided copying is set, do not load move
than 20 sheets.
