GETTING STARTED

Read this chapter only if you have purchased the base model. If you have purchased a models with ADF and fax
board refer to Chapter 2 of the Facsimile User's Guide.

BASE MODEL OPERATION PANEL

This chapter describes the operation panel buttons on the base model and explains briefly how to access settings
under the Data Registration button. You will also learn how to enter the correct date and time in your unit, and how
to use the energy saver mode.

FUNCTIONS OF THE OPERATION PANEL

1 LCD Display
Displays messages and prompts when the unit is in
operation. Displays selections, text, numbers, and
names when registering information.
2 COPY Button/Lamp
Used to switch to copy mode. Lights when you are in
copy mode.
3 In Use/Memory Lamp
In copy mode, lights when the unit has a document
in memory.
4 Error Lamp
Blinks red when the unit has run out of paper or toner,
or when there is a paper jam.
5 Reset Button
Returns to standard copy mode.
6 Data Registration Button/Lamp
Accesses the different user preferences and other
important settings.
7 Stop Button
Cancels sending, receiving, registering data and
other operations, and returns the unit to standby
mode.

8 Copy Special Features Button
Accesses the copy special functions.
9 Collate Button/Lamp
Collates multipage documents when copying us-
ing the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).
10 Display Contrast Button
Adjusts the contrast of the LCD display.
11 Function Buttons
Allow you to select options that appear on the LCD
display.
12 Set Button
Sets the setting you have selected.
13 Return Button
Returns to the previous display on the LCD display.
14 Start Button/Lamp
Starts copying and other operations.
15 Clear Button
Clears an entire entry when registering numbers
or quantities.
16 Numeric Keypad
Enters numbers when registering numbers or quan-
tities.
