1. Engine-oil filter
4. Apply a light coat of clean oil to the new filter seal
before screwing it on.
5. Screw the filter on until the gasket contacts the
mounting plate, then tighten the filter 1/2 to 2/3 of a
turn. Do not overtighten.
6. Add oil to the crankcase; refer to Changing the Engine
Oil and Filter (page 35).

Fuel Lines and Connections

Service Interval: Every 400 hours/Yearly (whichever comes
first)
Every 1,000 hours/Every 2 years (whichever comes
first)
Inspect the fuel lines and connections for deterioration,
damage, or loose connections.
Servicing the Water
Separator/Fuel Filter
Draining the Fuel Filter/Water Separator
Service Interval: Before each use or daily—Drain water
or other contaminants from the water
separator.
1. Place a clean container under the fuel filter (Figure 38).
2. Loosen the drain plug on the bottom of the filter
canister.

3. Tighten the drain plug on the bottom of the filter
canister.
Changing the Fuel-filter Canister
Service Interval: Every 400 hours—Replace the fuel filter
canister.
1. Drain the water from the water separator; refer to
Draining the Fuel Filter/Water Separator (page 36).
2. Clean the area where the filter canister mounts (Figure
38).
3. Remove the filter canister and clean the mounting
surface.
