6. OPERATION.

6.1 Engine preparation.
6.1.1 Engine does not contain oil or fuel when shipped. See the engine manufacturers
instructions for the type of petrol and oil to use. Before you use the unit read the
information on safety, operation, maintenance and storage. This trimmer was shipped
with a 500ml container of SAE 10W 30 motor oil. This oil is to be added to the engine
before operating. Follow the following procedure to fill the crankcase with oil.
6.2 First time fill.
6.2.1 Place the trimmer on a level surface.
6.2.2 Remove the oil cap/dipstick.
6.2.3 The crankcase is shipped empty, so fill with 500ml of oil.
6.2.4 When adding oil, use a funnel to reduce spillage.
6.2.5 DO NOT overfill check the oil level by following the instructions below.
6.3 To check the oil level and to fill to proper level.
6.3.1 Place the trimmer on a level surface.
6.3.2 Remove the oll fill cap/dipstick and wipe clean with a clean cloth.
6.3.3 Replace dipstick and DO NOT screw it. Remove and check oil level.
6.3.4 When oil level is full, the oil will be at upper limit on dipstick, (See Figure 3)
6.3.5 If the oil level near or below the lower limit mark on the dipstick (see Figure 3),
add oil slowly and recheck until oil level reaches upper limit of dipstick, DO NOT
overfill.
6.3.6 Replace and tighten dipstick.
6.3.7 Clean up any spilled oil.
When adding oil, you must frequently insert the oil fill cap/dipstick to chek the amount of oil
in the engine. DO NOT overfill (see Figure 4).
Follow the engine manufacturer's instructions for the type of petrol and oil to use. Always use
an appropiate petrol container when storing fuel. DO NOT smoke when adding petrol to the
engine. When inside an enclosure, DO NOT fill with petrol. Before you add fuel, stop the
engine and allow the engine to cool for several minutes.
