Airbag Triggering Conditions
The airbag is designed to activate
when a head-on collision reaches a
certain severity; and it may also be
triggered in some special collisions.
In case of minor head-on collision, or
side collision, rear collision or roll-over
accidents,
the
airbag
triggered. Under the above conditions,
the seat belts can provide protection
to the occupants.
The decisive factor for triggering
airbag system is the deceleration
curve detected by electronic control
unit (ECU) during the collision. If the
detected deceleration rate is lower
than the reference value preset in
ECU, the airbag won't be triggered
even though the vehicle is severely
damaged in the accident.
