Starting Engine

(a) Before Starting
1. Firmly apply the parking brake.
2. Turn off all unnecessary lights and
accessories.
3. If an automatic transmission is
equipped, shift to P or N gear.
If
a
manual
transmission
equipped, shift to N gear.
4. Press down the brake pedal or
clutch pedal to the bottom and
hold there until the vehicle starts
up. (For a manual transmission
vehicle, even not at N gear, you
can start the engine by stepping
down on the clutch pedal. But this
operation is not recommended.)

(b) Starting Engine
Always follow the instructions in (a)
Before Starting.
Push Button Starting
This vehicle is equipped with a smart
key system. You can press the button
on the smart key to turn on the
engine.

Normal Starting Procedure
To start the engine, a smart key must
be in the vehicle.
The indicator on the smart key will
turn green when you firmly pressing
down the brake or clutch pedal. Press
the start button firmly and slowly to
start the engine.
Warm up the engine in driving rather
than running idle. Drive the vehicle at
stable speed until the engine coolant
temperature rises up to the normal
range.
NOTICE
Each starting attempt must be
less than 20 seconds, otherwise
the engine and wiring system
may get overheated.
Don't let a cold engine run at
high speed.
If the engine stalls frequently or
is hard to start, your vehicle
must be checked immediately.
