2-1. Off-road driving techniques
CAUTION
Precautions when driving off-road
Always observe the following precautions to minimize the risk of death, seri-
ous injury or damage to your vehicle:
Make sure that all occupants are sitting in the correct posture and are
wearing their seatbelts.
See P. 22 for the correct driving posture. For seatbelt use, refer to the
"Owner's Manual".
Avoid sudden acceleration, braking or turning of the steering wheel.
You may lose control of the vehicle and cause the vehicle to roll over.
Do not jump the vehicle.
Doing so may damage the underside of the vehicle or cause the vehicle to
roll over.
Do not intentionally drive into objects.
Reduce speed in strong crosswinds.
Crosswinds may cause the vehicle to roll over due to the vehicle's high
center of gravity.
Make sure that all windows, the glass hatch and the moon roof
closed.
When exiting the vehicle while stopped sideways on an incline
Avoid exiting the vehicle while stopped on an incline. If you need to exit, use
the uphill-facing door. If you try to exit using the downhill-facing door, the
chances of the vehicle rolling over will increase. As a result, the vehicle may
roll onto you and could result in death or serious injury.
