HEAT- Air
from
outside the car
is circulated through
the
system
and
discharged through the
floor outlets, w
ith
some
lesser
por-
tion discharged through the defroster
outlets.
The comfort con-
trol
lever
and
fan speed
may be adjusted to obtain comfort.
DEF-
In
the
defroster mode of operation, outside air is circulated
through the
system
and discharged through
the
windshield out-
lets,
with
some lesser
portion going to the floor outlets. This
operating
mode is used to
remove
ice
and
interior
fog from the
winds
hield.
Under extreme icing and fogging conditions, sliding
the
comfort
control lever
to
the
extreme
right
w
ill
provide maximum defrost
capability.
Note: The air conditioning compressor operates in DEFROST
mode above approximately l0°F
(-
l2°C). Because of a built-in
time
delay,
air will
come
out of
the
air conditioning
outle
ts for 5
to
10
seconds
when changing from OFF to HEAT or
DEFROST.
Compressor operation can
be eliminated
in
defrost by pulling
the
DEFROST
button
fully
back
out. This procedure should be
used
only
in cold weather,
(below
32°F.
[0°C]).
Above
32°F
com-
pressor operation
is recommended.
All other defroster
opera-
tions will continue to
functio
n
with the button in
either
position.
Air
Conditioning Outlets
The outlets
can be adjusted
to
direct the air
to
any
desired
area, o
r
shut off
individually
by
moving the
vanes or
rotating the
barre
l.
The lap
coolers, found at the bottom edge of the
instrument
panel, may be
opened or shut off by
rotating the
barrel
up
or
down.
Operating Tips
Fast Cool-down
-
Push the Norm AJC
button
and drive the car for
a
few minutes
with
the windows
down.
Do
not change
the
setting
of the comfort control lever. After
the
hot air
has
been
expelled,
close
the
window
and
adjust
the
fan speed to obtain comfort.
Window Fogging
In
mild but rainy
or
humid weather, car windows may tend to fog
on the inside. To clear
the fog off all
the
windows,
push the
Norm
AJC
button.
Adjust
the
temperature
control lever
and fan speed
to
maintain
comfort.
Interior fogg ing
on the windshield
can be
quickly
removed by
depressing the DEFROST button.
Summer Operation
Air conditioned
cars
must be
protected
with
a
high-quality
anti-
freeze
coolant
during
the summer to provide
proper
corrosion
protection
and
to raise
the
boiling point
of
the
coolant
for
protec-
tion
against
overheating.
A 50
%
concentration
is recommended.
