TROUBLESHOOTING

!
WARNING
before attempting to service or
troubleshoot the generator, the owner
or service technician must first
read and understand the instruction
manual and comply with all safety
instructions. Failure to follow all
instructions may result in conditions
leading to voiding of the product
warranty, serious personal injury,
property damage or even death.
PRObLEM
Electric starter will not
crank engine fast enough
or at all (electric start
models only).
Engine will not start or
starts and runs rough.
POTENTIAL CAUSE
1.
Electrical load connected to generator.
2.
Flat battery.
3.
Faulty battery.
4.
If above possible causes are checked and
eliminated, generator may be faulty.
1.
Engine control switch is in the STOP
position.
2.
Electrical load connected to generator.
3.
Generator is out of fuel.
4.
Fuel is stale and/or contaminated with
water or other foreign substance.
5.
Fuel shutoff valve is in the OFF position.
6.
Engine is not choked (if cold).
7.
Engine is over choked (if warm).
8.
Fuel sediment cup filter is dirty or blocked.
9.
Air filter is dirty or blocked.
10. Spark plug boot is not properly connected
onto spark plug terminal.
11. Spark plug is dirty or faulty.
12. Low oil level.
13. Spark arrestor is dirty or blocked.
14.
If above possible causes are checked and
eliminated, generator may be faulty.
TROUBLESHOOTING
1.
Switch main 240-Volt AC circuit breaker
and individual 240-Volt AC outlet circuit
breakers (if equipped) to the OFF position.
Unplug any electrical cords or devices
from the 240-Volt AC receptacle(s).
2.
Start engine manually or recharge battery
using an external battery charger.
3.
Replace battery.
4.
Take generator to an authorized
Westinghouse service dealer.
1.
Push engine control switch into the RUN
position.
2.
Switch main 240-Volt AC circuit breaker
and individual 240-Volt AC outlet circuit
breakers (if equipped) to the OFF position.
Unplug any electrical cords or devices
from the 240-Volt AC receptacle(s).
3.
Check fuel level and add fuel if necessary.
4.
Drain fuel and refill with fresh fuel.
5.
Move fuel shutoff valve to the ON position.
6.
Move choke lever to the ON position.
7.
Move choke lever either midway between
the ON and OFF positions or fully to the
OFF position.
8.
Check fuel sediment cup/filter and clean if
necessary.
9.
Check air filter element and clean if
necessary.
10. Push spark plug boot firmly onto spark
plug.
11. Clean or replace spark plug.
12. Check oil level and add oil if necessary.
13. Check spark arrestor and clean if
necessary.
14.
Take generator to an authorized
Westinghouse service dealer.
