External Hard Drive
Why is my DVR+'s external hard drive not working correctly?
Channel Master does not provide support or guarantee that all external hard drives will function
properly with your DVR+ receiver. If you're using an external hard drive other than one specified
by Channel Master, ensure that there is no special formatting and no special management or
partitioning software on the external hard drive, which can cause issues. Also note that the DVR+
will not recognize any external hard drive with less than 80 GB of storage. Storage devices with less
than 80 GB can be used only for installing software updates.
While many off-the-shelf external hard drives will work with the DVR+, we cannot certify every hard
drive in existence. Therefore, it's best to use one of our recommended external hard drives listed
below. Most external hard drives are compatible with your DVR+, but Channel Master has thoroughly
tested and recommends the following models:
• 500 GB Slim EHD by Seagate (STCD500102)
• 500 GB EHD by Seagate (STEA500400)
• 1 TB EHD by Seagate (STBU1000100)
• 1 TB EHD by Seagate (STBX1000101)
• 1 TB EHD by Seagate (STEA1000400)
• 1 TB EHD by Seagate (STDR1000100)
• 3 TB EHD by Seagate (STCA3000101)
• 3 TB EHD by Seagate (STBV3000100)
• 1 TB EHD by WD (WDBZFP0010BBK)
• 1 TB EHD by WD (WDBUZG0010BBK)
• 2 TB EHD by WD (WDBU6Y0020BBK)
• 2 TB EHD by WD (WDBMWV0020BTT)
Note: Storage capacity and recording hours depend on the external hard drive.
If you wish to use a different external hard drive, you may have the best results with newer external
hard drives by popular manufacturers such as Seagate, WD, and Toshiba.
