G-3000H User's Guide
Wireless LAN Channel Usage
The Wireless Channel Usage screen displays whether the radio channels are used by other
wireless devices within the transmission range of the ZyAIR. This allows you to select the
channel with minimum interference for your ZyAIR.

Full Network Management

The embedded web configurator is an all-platform web-based utility that allows you to easily
access the ZyAIR's management settings. Most functions of the ZyAIR are also software
configurable via the SMT (System Management Terminal) interface. The SMT is a menu-
driven interface that you can access from a terminal emulator over a telnet connection.
Logging and Tracing
• Built-in message logging and packet tracing.
• Unix syslog facility support.
Embedded FTP and TFTP Servers
The embedded FTP and TFTP servers enable fast firmware upgrades as well as configuration
file backups and restoration.
Text File Based Auto Configuration
Administrators can use text configuration files to configure the wireless LAN settings for
multiple APs. The AP can automatically get a configuration file from a TFTP server at start up
or after renewing DHCP client information. See
SNMP
SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) is a protocol used for exchanging
management information between network devices. SNMP is a member of the TCP/IP
protocol suite. Your ZyAIR supports SNMP agent functionality, which allows a manger
station to manage and monitor the ZyAIR through the network. The ZyAIR supports SNMP
version one (SNMPv1) and version two c (SNMPv2c).
Wireless LAN Manager
Administrators can use ZyXEL's Wireless LAN Manager (WLM) software to simplify SNMP
based firmware and configuration file upgrades on the AP. WLM is an Element Manager
System (EMS) plug-in for SNMPc management software. WLM uses ZyXEL's proprietary
Management Information Base (MIB). The proprietary MIB file is included on the CD with
the WLM. You can also find it in the zipped file that contains the current firmware file. See
Appendix N on page 281
34
Appendix M on page 273
for details on WLM and the proprietary MIBs.
