). Designated as COM1, it is a 10-pin telephone-style jack providing

a standard RS-232 connection.
When the Falcon is connected with a serial cable, the port allows commu-
nications with a host computer or any serial device, such as a printer or
modem. The serial port also provides a connection for communications
and battery recharging in the Falcon Dock and Falcon 4-Slot Dock.

When shipped from the factory, every Falcon unit is programmed with
several applications collectively known as PAL2. If the Falcon has been
customized, it may be programmed with other (or additional) applica-
tions.
For information on using PAL2, see the Falcon Portable Applications
Library User's Guide. When using another application, contact the sys-
tem administrator for instructions.
