Fuel Level Gauge
The fuel level gauge indicates the level of fuel in the
fuel tanks. See
Fig.
17.19. A low-level warning light
illuminates when the diesel fuel level registers 1/8th
of capacity.
Engine Oil Pressure Gauge
NOTICE
A sudden decrease or absence of oil pressure
may indicate mechanical failure. Bring the vehicle
to a safe stop and investigate the cause to pre-
vent further damage. Do not operate the engine
until the cause has been determined and cor-
rected.

MESSAGES
If the engine oil pressure falls below preset levels,
the check engine light will illuminate. If the condition
does not improve, the CHECK engine light and low
oil pressure warning light will also illuminate and the
buzzer will sound. See
engine will derate or shut down, depending on the
type of engine protection system installed.
Coolant Temperature Gauge
A sudden increase in coolant temperature may
indicate engine or cooling system failure. Bring
the vehicle to a safe stop and investigate the
cause to prevent further damage. Do not operate
the engine until the cause has been determined
and corrected.
During normal engine operation, the coolant tem-
perature gauge should read 200 to 205°F (93 to
96°C). See
Fig.
below 160°F (71°C) or exceeds 235°F (113°C), in-
spect the cooling system to determine the cause.
