5.9 Battery Life and Management

Time away from home is greatly extended by combining the use of the
AC power supply, DC power supply and the XPO
batteries. To ensure the batteries maintain their optimal charge level,
utilize the AC power supply whenever you have access to electric
power. Utilize the DC power supply whenever you are in a vehicle.

Battery exhaustion will result in a loss of supplemental
oxygen. To ensure proper supplemental oxygen delivery
during a power outage:
– Plug your portable concentrator into a power source.

When you first receive your XPO
charge the internal battery (and supplemental external
battery if provided) overnight.

Always ensure the XPO

become fully discharged. The batteries may be permanently
degraded if left fully discharged for an extended length of time.
Check the status of your XPO
supplemental external battery once a month if you are not using
your XPO
concentrator on a daily basis. Both batteries should

Heat is the worst enemy of a battery. Allow plenty of air to
circulate around the XPO

Don'ts
Do Not use or leave the XPO
external battery in excessive heat or cold.

external battery in car trunks, etc. for extended periods of time.
Do Not store either battery fully charged (4 bars illuminated
on the unit's battery gauge B) if you are going to store your
XPO
concentrator for any time greater than a day. Recharge

or discharge the battery to 2 bars (50% charge) only. Storing a
battery with a full charge may degrade its useful life.
Do Not leave your supplemental external battery plugged into
the XPO
concentrator when the XPO

in use. The supplemental external battery will lose charge
while plugged into the XPO
concentrator turned off.
