Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC Adapter from the computer.
Remove the battery (see Battery on page
Remove the following:
a. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page
b. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page
c. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page
d. Switch cover (see Switch cover on page
e. Display assembly (see
f. Top cover (see Top cover on page
Turn the computer upside down, with the rear panel toward you.
Remove the four Torx8 T8M2.5×9.0 screws that secure the rear cover to the base enclosure.
Turn the computer right side up, with the front toward you.
