FIRST USE

5.1 First use
Read the instruction manual carefully prior to operating the machine.
Prior to starting the machine, check if:
• the steam/ hot water valves are closed.
• the switch and buttons are not activated.
• the power cord is disconnected.
• the drip tray is inserted accurately
Now you can begin to operate your machine:
1 Remove the cup warming tray.
2 Fill the water tank with fresh water, preferably deficient in lime. Replace the cup warming tray.
3 Insert the power plug into the wall socket by pressing the power-switch. The machine is now on.
Important!
For the initial set-up the boiler has to be filled.
Place a small container (e. g. a frothing pitcher) under the steam/hot water valve. Open the steam valve by moving

it upwards or downwards and press the pump/ hot water switch. There will be a pump sound. Now the boiler is
filling with water. When using the machine for the first time, it can take a few seconds before the water comes out
of the steam valve. Please release approx. 300 ml from the valve. This way, the boiler is flushed and filled with fresh
water. That allows you to constantly renew the boiler water in daily use. Switch off the pump/ hot water switch
and close the steam/ hot water valve.
5 Dispense water by pressing the coffee button.
6 The machine heats up and the orange control lamp for heating control lights up.
7 As soon as the optimum temperature is reached, the heating shuts off automatically and the control lamp for
heating control switches off. The indicator of the pump pressure gauge may move slightly during the heat-up
phase.
8 Clamp the empty portafilter into the brew group in order to preheat filter and the portafilter. You can accelerate
this process by dispensing water from the brew group.
9 For the first filling of the boiler, a large amount of water is required. Therefore, refill the water tank with water
after the first use.
10 The machine is now ready for use. Place the cups on the cup heater tray in order to preheat them.

USE OF THE MACHINE

6.1 Preparation of the machine

The switched off machine is to be placed into operation as follows:
1 Make sure that there is sufficient water in the water tank.
2 Make sure that the switches are in the off position and the steam/ hot water valve is closed.
3 Turn the machine on (push the power switch).
4 The heating period depends on the ambient temperature and is approx. 5-7 minutes. The indicator of the pump
pressure gauge may move slightly during the heat-up phase.
5 The machine is ready for use.
6 Insert the portafilter, activate the coffee button and dispense some hot water. This way, the portafilter will be
completely heated.
It is recommended to leave the portafilter in the brew group keeping it warm for optimal coffee
dispension temperature.
