12.1 Overview

This chapter describes how to configure LAN settings.
A Local Area Network (LAN) is a shared communication system to which many computers are
attached. A LAN is a computer network limited to the immediate area, usually the same building or
floor of a building.

The LAN screens can help you configure a manage IP address, and partition your physical network
into logical networks.

12.2 What You Can Do

• Use the LAN IP screen to configure the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for your NBG6816 on the LAN

• Use the Static DHCP screen to assign IP addresses on the LAN to specific individual computers
based on their MAC Addresses
• Use the IPv6 LAN screen to configure the IPv6 address for your NBG6816 on the LAN

12.3 What You Need To Know

The actual physical connection determines whether the NBG6816 ports are LAN or WAN ports.
