BOOM COMPONENTS
19 Support and slide the numbers 2 and 3 boom
tube assembly approximately halfway out of the
number 1 boom tube.
Crushing hazard. The boom
assembly could become
unbalanced and fall when the
numbers 2 and 3 boom tubes are
moved if not secured together.
20 If equipped, remove the fasteners securing the
side wear pads to the number 1 boom tube, and
remove the wear pads.
21 Raise the front end of the numbers 2 and 3
boom tube assembly slightly and remove the
boom rollers from the number 1 boom tube.
22 Support and slide the numbers 2 and 3 boom
tube assembly out of the number 1 boom tube.
Place the numbers 2 and 3 boom tube
assembly on a structure capable of supporting
it.
Crushing hazard. The numbers 2
and 3 boom tube assembly could
become unbalanced and fall when
removed from the number 1 boom
tube if not properly supported and
attached to the overhead crane.
Note: During removal, the overhead crane strap
will need to be adjusted for proper balancing.
23 Remove the fasteners securing the extension
chain pivot pin to the number 3 boom tube.
24 Use a soft metal drift to remove the pivot pin.
Remove the chain and set it to the side.
Note: Do not allow the chain to become twisted or
dirty.

25 Extend the number 3 boom tube assembly
enough to access the inner wear pads of the
number 2 boom tube.
26 Remove the wear pads of the number 2 boom
tube at the front end of the boom.
27 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead crane to
the number 3 boom tube assembly at the fork
end of the boom.
28 Support and slide the number 3 boom tube
assembly approximately halfway out of the
number 2 boom tube.
29 If equipped, remove the fasteners securing the
side wear pads to the number 2 boom tube, and
remove the wear pads.
30 Raise the front end of the number 3 boom tube
assembly slightly and remove the boom rollers
of the number 2 boom tube.
31 Support and slide the number 3 boom tube
assembly out of the number 2 boom tube.
Place the number 3 boom tube assembly on a
structure capable of supporting it.
Crushing hazard. The number 3
boom tube assembly could
become unbalanced and fall when
removed from the number 2 boom
tube if not properly supported and
attached to the overhead crane.
Note: During removal, the overhead crane strap
will need to be adjusted for proper balancing.
