4. Voltage
• Connect the pocket tester (DC 20 V) to the
tail/brake light connectors (wire harness
side) as shown.
Positive tester probe → yellow 1
Negative tester probe → black 2
• Set the main switch to "ON".
• Pull in the brake lever or push down on the
brake pedal.
• Measure the voltage (DC 12 V) of yellow
1 on the tail/brake light connector (wire
harness side).
• Is the voltage within specification?
YES
This circuit is OK.
SIGNALING SYSTEM
NO
The
wiring
circuit
from the main switch
to the tail/brake light
connector is faulty
and
must
be
repaired.

2. The neutral, park, high-range, and/or low-
range indicator light fails to come on.
1. Gear position switch
• Check the gear position switch for continu-
ity.
Refer to "CHECKING THE SWITCHES".
• Is the gear position switch OK?
YES
2. Voltage
• Connect the pocket tester (DC 20 V) to the
meter assembly coupler as shown.
Positive tester probe → brown 1
Negative tester probe → black/white 2

• Set the main switch to "ON".
• Measure the voltage (DC 12 V) of brown
1 and black/white 2 at the meter assem-
bly coupler.
• Is the voltage within specification?
YES
Replace the meter
assembly or ECU.
