3) If "–05" is stamped on the final drive pinion
gear bearing housing,
c = 67.8 – 0.05
= 67.75
NOTE:
After replacing any part in the final drive pinion
gear assembly, the overall length of the
assembly will change. Therefore, be sure to
measure distance c to select the correct final
drive pinion gear shim thickness.
4) If "–01" is stamped on the final gear case,
d = 100 – 0.01
= 99.99
5) Therefore, "A" is 0.58
"A" = 55 + (67.75 – 22.18) – 99.99
= 0.58
6) Round off the hundredth digit and select the
appropriate shim(s).
In the example above, the calculated num-
ber is 0.58. The chart instructs you to round
off 8 to 10 at the hundredth place. Thus, the
shim thickness is 0.60 mm (0.024 in).
