I/O
• PCI USB Controllers
• PCI IDE Controller
The ICH3 I/O controller hub includes three integrated PCI-based USB hubs, which in turn support two USB ports each.
The SE7500WV2 utilizes two of the integrated USB hubs to provide two external USB ports at the rear I/O panel and
one onboard USB header for routing an additional USB port to the front or back of the server chassis. The third USB hub
in the ICH3 is not used.
The ICH3 I/O controller hub also includes an integrated PCI-based Ultra DMA/100 IDE controller that supports
programmed I/O data transfers and bus master IDE data transfers, and provides two independent ATA-100 channels in a
single 32-bit, 33-MHz PCI bus master device. The SE7500WV2 provides a single IDE channel from this controller to
support add-in IDE devices such as a CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive. The second IDE channel is not used.
Features of the ATA-100 IDE controller include:
Support for IDE drives and ATAPI devices using one of the following:
DMA Mode 0,1,2
Ultra DMA Mode 0,1,2,3,4,5
PIO Mode 0,1,2,3,4
IDE transfer rates up to 100 MB/s per channel
Buffering for PCI/IDE burst transfers
Master/slave IDE mode
32-bit, 33-MHz bus speed with a 100 MB/s burst transfer speed
Support for up to two devices
Two separate IDE connectors are available on the SE7500WV2 server board: a special high-density connector that
incorporates connection for the floppy, front panel and IDE devices (used for Intel ® server chassis); and a server system
infrastructure (SSI)-compliant 40-pin connector (used for third-party reference chassis).
Note: These connectors can be used simultaneously.
