CAUTION: Risk of system damage due to freezing!
The heating system can freeze up in cold weather if it is
shut down.
▶ Protect the heating system from freezing when there
is a danger of frost. To do so, drain the water out of
the heating system from its lowest point. When doing
so, the vent at the highest point of the system must
be open.
8.1
Shutting down the heating system by means of the
controller
Turn off the heating system on the Logamatic BC10 basic control unit.
When the Logamatic BC10 basic control unit is switched off, the burner
is automatically shut down at the same time. For more detailed
information about using the Logamatic BC10 basic control unit, refer to
Section 7.10, page 34.
▶ Switch off the heating system at the On/Off switch on the BC10.
▶ Turn off the main shutoff valve.

Shutting down the boiler in an emergency

The circuit-breaker for the installation room or the
heating emergency stop switch should only be used to
switch off the heating system in an emergency.
8.2.1

Emergency shut-down

Explain to the customer what to do in an emergency, e.g. a fire.
▶ Never risk your own life. Your own safety is paramount.
▶ Turn off the main gas shut-off valve.
▶ Isolate the heating system from the electrical power supply via the
emergency shutoff switch or the corresponding building fuse / circuit
breaker.

Heating system inspection

Heating systems should be regularly maintained for the following
reasons:
• to achieve a high level of efficiency and to operate the system
economically (low fuel consumption),
• to achieve a high level of operational safety and reliability,
• to maintain the cleanest possible combustion,
• to ensure reliable operation and long service life.
Maintenance work may only be carried out by a qualified service
technician. If parts are replaced, only Buderus-approved
components may be used. A service must be carried out once a year.
The results of the services must be recorded in the servicing and
maintenance log.
Spare parts can be ordered from Buderus with the aid of
the parts list.
9.1

Preparing the boiler for inspection

DANGER: Risk of fatal injury from electric shock.
▶ Before opening the appliance, isolate all phases of
the electrical power supply and secure against
unintentional reconnection.
▶ Shut down the heating system.
▶ Unscrew the securing screw at the top center of the boiler's front
cover.
▶ Lift font panel slightly and draw forwards to remove.
DANGER: Risk to life from explosion of flammable
gases!
▶ Operations on the gas lines may be carried out only
by a properly licensed gas contractor.
