10.3 When a function does not work
If you still have difficulties after following the instructions in this section, reset the unit. Disconnect the mains lead and
turn OFF the cordless handset. Reconnect the mains lead and turn ON the cordless handset.
Cause & Solution
R The other party's fax machine does not support polling. Check with the other
party.
R The greeting message you recorded was under 1 second long. Record a
longer message.
R The other party's fax machine is busy or has run out of recording paper. Try
again.
R The document is jammed. Remove the jammed document (page 65).
R Press MSTOPN to eject the jammed paper.
R There is something wrong with the unit. Contact our service personnel.
R A transmission error occurred. Try again.
R If you send a fax overseas, try the following:
– Use the overseas transmission mode (feature #23 on page 43).
– Add 2 pauses at the end of the telephone number or dial manually.
R The unit is too hot. Stop using the unit for a while and let the unit cool down.
Cause & Solution
R Recording was too short. Try again.
R Phonebook copy failed. Confirm the destination unit is in standby mode and
try again.
R The destination unit's phonebook memory is full. Erase the unnecessary
phonebook items from the destination unit and try again.
R The cordless handset's phonebook memory is full. Erase unnecessary
items (page 25).
R There is no room left in the memory to record voice messages. Erase
unnecessary messages (page 38, 39).
R The cordless handset has lost communication with the base unit. Move
closer to the base unit and try again.
R Unplug the base unit's mains lead to reset the unit. Reconnect the mains
lead and try again.
R The cordless handset's registration may have been cancelled. Re-register
the cordless handset (page 50).
R A wrong type of battery such as Alkaline or Manganese was inserted. Use
only the rechargeable Ni-MH battery noted on page 5, 11.
R You must subscribe to use Caller ID service. Once you receive caller
information after subscribing to a Caller ID service, this message will not be
displayed.
R The cordless handset is not registered to the base unit. Press
MLOCATORN ( ) on the base unit for about 5 seconds, then place the
cordless handset on the base unit or charger. The cordless handset will be
registered to the base unit.
