Problem
I cannot select the desired
receiving mode.
11.3.6 Copying
Problem
The unit will not make a copy.
A black line, a white line or
smudge appears on the
copied document.
The copied document is
blank.
The copied image is
distorted.
The printing quality is poor.
11.3.7 Answering machine
Problem
I cannot listen to messages
from a remote location.
The other party complains
that they cannot leave a voice
message.
I cannot operate the
answering machine with the
cordless handset.
The message indicator
flashes slowly.
11.3.8 If a power failure occurs
L The unit will not function.
L The unit is not designed for making emergency telephone calls when the power fails. Alternative arrangements
should be made for access to emergency services.
L Fax transmission and reception will be interrupted.
L If delayed transmission (feature #25 on page 42) is programmed and power failure prevents the document from
being sent at the set time, the document will be sent after power is restored.
L If any fax documents are stored in the memory, they will be lost. When power is restored, a power down report will
be printed stating which documents in memory have been erased.
Cause & Solution
L If you want to set TAM/FAX or FAX ONLY mode:
– select the desired mode using feature #77 (page 44), and press {AUTO
ANSWER} repeatedly until the desired mode is displayed.
L If you want to set TEL mode or TEL/FAX mode:
– select the desired mode using feature #73 (page 44), and press {AUTO
ANSWER} repeatedly until the desired mode is displayed.
Cause & Solution
L You cannot make a copy during programming.
L You cannot make a copy during a telephone conversation.
L The scanner glass, white plate or rollers are dirty with correction fluid, etc.
Clean them (page 64). Please do not insert a document before correction
fluid has dried completely.
L The recording paper is not installed correctly. Make sure that the shiny side
of the paper is facing down and re-install the paper (page 7).
L Adjust the width of the document guides to fit the actual size of the
document.
L The thermal head is dirty. Clean it (page 64).
L Adjust the print contrast using feature #57 (page 43).
L The recording paper is too damp. Use new paper.
Cause & Solution
L Activate the remote operation feature by setting the remote operation ID
beforehand (page 38, feature #11 on page 41). Press the remote operation
ID correctly and firmly.
L The unit is not in TAM/FAX mode. Change to TAM/FAX mode (page 39).
L The recording time is set to "GREETING ONLY". Select "1 MINUTE" or "3
MINUTES" (page 38, feature #10 on page 41).
L The memory is full. Erase unnecessary messages (page 35, 36).
L Make sure there is no other answering machine connected on the same
line.
L Someone is operating the answering machine.
L You are too far from the base unit. Move closer to the base unit.
L This is normal. New messages have been recorded. Listen to the new
messages (page 36, 37) or turn the message alert OFF (page 46).
