To create a new library (administrators only)

It is recommended to:
Only configure the libraries that you need
Only configure the number of cartridges that you are likely to need
NOTE:
Refer to the HP Best Practices for VTL, NAS, StoreOnce Catalyst and Replication
implementations, available on the HP Manuals web site, for guidelines on setting up a backup
policy/job within backup applications. This will also help you determine how many libraries and
cartridges you need to set up.
You can add cartridges at a later date to expand the system and remove individual blank cartridges
from a library without deleting the whole library, but cannot remove cartridges that have been
written to.

To create a new library device for the host, click on Create.
Description
The default number of drives is determined by the Emulation Type that you have selected. If
you increase the number of drives be careful not to exceed the maximum number of libraries
and drives that a host can physically access.
64 for iSCSI interfaces
Data deduplication is enabled by default for the library device. It is not possible to disable
deduplication on any HP StoreOnce Backup system.
This is the date that the library was created and is generated automatically.
This identifies the network port on the HP StoreOnce Backup system to which the device is
connected. This will be the port used for the Library device as well as the default port for
embedded tape drives.
The number of ports available in the drop-down menu depends upon your network
configuration. There is always an iSCSI port. This is configured using the StoreOnce CLI
net config commands. (See the HP StoreOnce Installation and Configuration guide for
more information.)
This option allows you to select whether the barcodes for the library should display six or
eight characters. The HP StoreOnce Backup system generates barcodes automatically for
cartridges. If you enter a barcode manually, you must always enter 8 characters. If the
6–character barcode is selected, the StoreOnce Backup system will truncate to the top six
characters, removing the top two characters of an 8–character barcode, i.e. barcode
1ABCDEFG will truncate to BCDEFG. The barcode is displayed with the truncated characters
in brackets on the Cartridges tab, (1A)BCDEFG.
This is the Initiator Node Name of the host that will back up to this device. You must enter
it manually when you are creating a new device. If you are using the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator,
you can find the name by running the iSCSI Initiator on the host and copying the Initiator
Node Name from the General tab.
