Tools Menu Options

Import and Export Hotkeys

Use the Import Hotkeys and Export Hotkeys options in the Tools menu to import and export hotkey configuration
(*.HKX) files.
Use the options on the Keyboard tab of the Customize dialog to set custom keyboard
accelerators (shortcut keys/key combinations) for often-used commands. See the
Customize dialog - Keyboard tab section on page 214 for details.



Import and Export Preferences

Use the Import Preferences and Export Preferences options in the Tools menu to import and export Export Preference
(*.EPX) files.



The options in this dialog allow you to export the current Editor preferences (as defined in the Preferences dialog) as an
*.epx file, which can later be imported back into NetLinx Studio (via the Tools > Import Editor Preferences option).

Import Hotkeys - This option allows you to import a (previously exported) hotkey configuration (*.HKX)
file. Before you can select an HKX file, the programs alerts you that the imported file will overwrite the
current keyboard hotkey settings. Click OK to access the Open dialog, where you can locate and select the
desired HKX file.
Export Hotkeys - This option allows you to export the current keyboard hotkey configuration settings as a
*.HKX file. The application will prompt you specify a filename (in the Save As dialog). This file can then be
imported, in which case the hotkey settings saved in the HKX file will overwrite the current hotkey
configuration.
Import Preferences - This option allows you to import a (previously exported) program preferences
configuration (*.epx file. Before you can select an EPX file, the programs alerts you that the imported file
will overwrite the current program preferences settings. Click OK to access the Open dialog, where you can
locate and select the desired EPX file.
Export Preferences - Select Tools > Export Preferences to open the Export Preferences dialog (FIG. 282).
Click the Browse (...) button to access the Save As dialog, where you can specify a name and
target directory for the exported *.EPX file.
Click the check boxes (or Select All and Deselect All buttons) to specify which type(s) of
preferences you want to include in the exported *.EPX file.
