Clearing Paper Jams

If copy paper is jammed, the x indi-
cator on the operation panel lights
and a message appears on the display
indicating the location of the jam.
Use one of the following procedures
to clear the jammed paper.
Limitation
You cannot open the paper tray
side cover when the main side cov-
er is open. Close the main side cov-
er first.
Note
The display may indicate that pa-
per is jammed in more than one lo-
cation. In this case, check for
jammed paper in all locations list-
ed.

Fusing Unit

When paper is not delivered to the
output tray, paper may be jammed in
the fusing unit.
Follow these steps to clear the jam.

Open the main side cover in the
direction of the arrow.

Lower the fusing unit pressure re-
lease lever in the direction of the
arrow.

Pull out the jammed paper.
Important
If you strongly pull out the pa-
per, it could be ripped or the
machine could be damaged.
