Clearing Document Jams

If document is jammed, the x indica-
tor on the operation panel lights and
a message appears on the display in-
dicating the location of the jam.
Use one of the following procedures
to clear the jammed document.
Clearing Document Jams in
the ADF
If you experience frequent document
jams in the ADF, clean the ADF or ob-
tain a new ADF Maintenance Kit.

Important
Strongly pulling documents out of
the ADF without opening the cov-
er may result in documents being
ripped and/or damage to the ma-

chine.

Open the ADF cover.
In the lower unit

While squeezing in the release le-
ver, open the ADF cover.

Remove the document in one of
the following ways depending on
where it is jammed:
In the top unit
A While supporting the ADF
unit with your hand, gently
pull out the jammed docu-
ment.
Important
If you strongly pull out the
document, it could be ripped
or the machine could be
damaged.
