FV lock

This feature is used to lock flash output, allowing
photographs to be recomposed without changing the
flash level. This ensures that flash output is appropriate to
the subject even when the subject is not positioned in the
center of the frame.
A Select [FV LOCK] or [FV LOCK/LENS DATA] for
[FUNC. BUTTON] under [
in the [SET UP] menu (➝p.138, 168).
B Press the flash pop-up button to raise the flash.
C Position the subject in the center of the frame and
press the shutter button halfway to focus.

D Press the FUNC. button.
• The flash will emit a monitor preflash to determine the
appropriate flash level.
• Flash output will be locked at this level and FV lock
icons (

E Move the camera to recompose the photograph, then
press the shutter button fully.
If desired, additional pictures can be taken without
releasing FV lock.
F Press the FUNC. button to release FV lock and confirm
that the FV lock icons (
