Using the Zoom
Rotate tile zoom control to activate optical zoom.
Rotate in the direction of
T
to zoom in on the
subject.
Or rotate in the direction of
W
to have a wider view.
Rotating
the zoom control all the way in either
direction will
adjust
the zoom
quickly, while rotating
the control
partially will ad]ust
the zoom
slowly.
A zoom indicator is displayed at the top of the monitor
when the zoom control is rotated.

Digital Zoom
VVhen tile camera is already at tile maximum optical zoom magnificatk)n, rotating
tile zoom control in tile T direction will trigger digital zoom. Tile sub]ect carl be
magnified up to 4x of the maximum optical zoom ratio.
Focus will be on the center of the frame and the focus area will not be displayed
when digital zoom is in effect.

[] Digital Zoom and Interpolation
Unlike optical zoom, digital zoom uses a digital imaging process known as interpolation to magnify
images, resu king in slight deterioration of picture quality according to the image size (_ 108) and
digital zoom magnification.
Interpolation is applied at zoom positions beyond ,"_. When zoom is increased beyond the
position, interpolation is initiated and the zoom indicator turns yellow to indicate that interpolation
is being applied.
The position of,"_ moves to the rig ht as image size decreases, allowing for confirmation of the zoom
positions at which shooting without interpolation is possible at the current image size setting.

When the image size is small
• By using Digital zoom (_ 145) in the setup menu (_13S), it is possible to restrict the
magnification of the digital zoom within a range where images may not deteriorate, or to set the
digital zoom so that it will not operate.
