Configuration Upgrades

Configuration upgrade kits are available for
many Phaser 8400 printers, but
Phaser 8500 or 8550 printers. See
"Configuration Upgrades" on page 13 for a list
of the available kits and the parts needed for
upgrading printers. For most configuration
upgrades, the printer's Configuration Card
must be replaced. This card is located behind
the interface cover as shown to the right.
Always print a Configuration Page before installing configuration upgrades.
Use the Configuration Page as a reference when reconfiguring the printer's
network settings.
The Configuration Card defines the printer's feature set and stores the printer's network settings and Ethernet
address. After a Configuration Card is installed, the printer reads it at power-on to determine its feature set. If
the card already contains network settings, the printer implements those settings from the card. Refer to the
Knowledge Base or the Service Manual for a detailed list of parameters stored on the card.
After installing configuration upgrades, be sure to reinstall the printer driver. This step is especially important
for Phaser 8400DX upgrades to ensure the driver recognizes all the features of the new hard drive.
The Phaser 8400 printer's Collation feature uses the hard drive
printer driver's feature set is configured for DX and the printer has the
DX-version Configuration Card.
