Exit Jams
To clear and resolve jams under the Exit
Cover:
Check for paper below both
the Exit Guide and the Paper
Release Blade.
Check for damaged sensors and
sensor flags (two visible).
If necessary, clean the exit rollers.
If the paper sticks to the Transfix
Roller, clean all the scraps and
residue from the roller to avoid
repeating print-quality defects.
Never use Phaser 860 and 8200 Glossy Paper with Phaser 8400 printers,
because the coating sticks to the Transfix Roller.
Jams At Trays
Use the following hints and tips to resolve jams that occur from one tray:
Verify the guides are adjusted properly for the paper size.
Verify the paper in the tray matches the printer driver settings.
For jams at the 525-sheet trays:
Make sure the Pick Roller is properly installed (both sides snapped into place and rotated above the
release latch)
Clean or replace the Pick Roller and Retard Roller
For jams at the Tray 1 (MPT):
Clean the Pick Roller and Pick Pad
Replace the Front Door and Tray kit
Return to the training CD-ROM and select Supplies to continue.
