Memory Upgrade

Install an extra memory DIMM into the empty RAM slot. If each slot already contains a DIMM, remove the
lowest value DIMM and replace it with the DIMM included in the upgrade kit. Phaser 8400 printers support
128 MB and 256 MB DIMMs only. Phaser 8500 and 8550 printers also support 512 MB DIMMs.

Hard Drive (Productivity Kit) Upgrade

The hard drive (Productivity Kit) includes two
cables that must be installed on the Main Board. If
the lower RAM slot contains a memory DIMM, the
large cable is difficult to install. To improve access
for installing the cable, temporarily remove the
DIMM and then install the cable. After installing
both cables, install the DIMM (if removed) and use
the thumbscrews to secure the attached option plate.
The hard drive (Productivity Kit) comes preinstalled on an option plate. Save
the original plate for future use or discard it.
