If the adjuster (6) is completely screwed or
unscrewed, or if it is not possible to obtain
the correct idle stroke:
N Withdraw the protection element (7).
N Tighten the nut (8) completely on the
adjuster (6).
N Tighten the adjuster (6) completely.
N Remove the left fairing, see page 56
(REMOVING THE SIDE FAIRINGS).
Unscrew and remove the plug (9) by me-
N
ans of a cut-headed screwdriver (or a
coin).
The special spanner (10) is
available at any Concessionario
Ufficiale aprilia.
N Insert the special spanner (10) and loo-
sen the inner nut (11).
N Insert a cut-headed screwdriver (12) in
the special spanner (10) and tighten the
adjusting screw (13) completely.
N Loosen the adjusting screw (13) by gi-
ving it half a turn, which corresponds to
3÷4 mm of the lever (14) stroke.
Keep the adjusting screw (12) locked by
N
means of the screwdriver (13), act on the
special spanner (10) and tighten the in-
ner nut (11).
Tighten the plug (9) again.
N
N Check the idle stroke at the end of the
clutch lever (10÷15 mm).
N Put back the left fairing.
N Start the engine, see page 36 (STAR-
TING).
N Operate the clutch completely and and
engage the 1st gear.
Make sure that the engine does not stop,
that the vehicle does not tend to advance
or that the clutch does not slip during the
acceleration phase or while the vehicle is
running.
If it is not possible to obtain a
correct adjustment or if the
clutch does not function proper-
ly, contact your Concessionario Uffi-
ciale aprilia.
Make sure that the clutch cable
is intact: it must not present flat-
tened parts and the sheath must not be
worn out in any point.
N Periodically lubricate the clutch cable
with a suitable lubricant, see page 81
(LUBRICANT CHART), in order to avoid
its untimely wear and corrosion.
