Checking and topping up

Check the coolant level and top
up the expansion tank with cold
engine.
Stop the engine and wait until it has
cooled down.

Position the vehicle on firm and
flat ground.
Keep the vehicle in vertical position, with
the two wheels resting on the ground.
Make sure that the coolant level in the
expansion tank (1) is included between
the "MIN" and "MAX" marks stamped
on the transparent pipe (2) (see figure).
If not, unscrew and remove the filling
plug (3).
Top up with coolant, see p. 86 (LUBRI-
CANT CHART), until the coolant level is
included between the "MIN" and "MAX"
marks stamped on the transparent pipe
(2).
Do not exceed this level, otherwise the
fluid will flow out of the tank when the en-
gine is running.
Put back the filling plug (3).

In case of excessive consump-
tion of coolant and in case the
tank remains empty, make sure
that there are no leaks in the circuit.
Have it repaired by an aprilia Official
Dealer.
