3.1 Workflow to Prepare the XG1200

This section describes the procedures to setup the XG1200
1.
Prepare an operation terminal
Prepare a terminal for the configuration.

Setting Up Serial Interface

Connect the XG1200 and terminal with an RS232C cable. The initial setting of baud rate is 9,600bps.

Turn on the XG1200 to start the system.
Turn on the terminal and the XG1200 to start the system.

Configure Management LAN Interface
The initial setting of management LAN interface is disabled.
To use the following functions, set up the management LAN interface.

Telnet Connection via Management LAN Interface (Optional)
The initial setting of the Telnet connection via management LAN interface is disabled.
Enable telnet connection if necessary.
6.
SNMP Configuration (Optional)
The initial setting of SNMP agent configuration is not set.
Set the SNMP configuration as needed.

This is the end of the preparation procedure
Proceed to setting switches.

Log in to the XG1200 frome the serial terminal.The default
user name is "admin". The default password is "password".
Switch to administrator EXEC mode.
Switch to global configuration mode.
Switch to serial terminal edit mode.
Change serial baud rate.
The baud rate is changed after the logout.
Exit to global configuration mode.
(Optional)
Set a monitoring period (in minutes) during which the serial
connection remains idle.
Exit to global configuration mode.
