Alignment of SITRANS TDL

The emitter and receiver units must be aligned using two adjustment screws. The adjustment
screws align the emitter and receiver units, whereby the laser beam from the emitter unit
reaches the receiver unit, and the receiver unit that faces the emitter unit detects the laser
beam. The receiver/emitter units are mounted on flanges that have a spherical surface. See
flange installation (Page 18) that helps in the alignment procedure.

Alignment procedure

The purpose of alignment is to bring the laser light exiting the emitter to the receiver unit
mounted on the other side of the process site.
The alignment tool contains a light source and an aiming tool which shows the light source
on a target screen. The position of the light source on the target screen corresponds to the
alignment of the system. The aiming tool can be configured for inital (coarse) alignment and
final (fine) alignment.
