► Do not use a damaged lawn mower.
► If there is petrol leaking from the lawn
mower: do not use the lawn mower and
consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
► Close the fuel tank cap.
► If there is engine oil leaking from the lawn
mower: do not use the lawn mower and
consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
► Close the engine oil cap.
► If the lawn mower is dirty: Clean the lawn
mower.
► Do not tamper with the lawn mower and its
safety systems.
► Tampering with the lawn mower which
increases the power output or the engine
speed is forbidden.
► If the controls are not working: do not use
the lawn mower.
► Spring-loaded mechanisms may release
stored energy.
► If mowing and the mown grass is to be col‐
lected in the grass catcher box: open the
mulch flap, detach the extension and attach
the grass catcher box as described in this
instruction manual.
► If mowing and the mown grass is to be
directed to the ground from the side: close
the mulch flap and attach the extension as
described in this instruction manual.
► If mulching: detach the extension and close
the mulch flap as described in this instruc‐
tion manual.
► Attach the blade as described in this
instruction manual.
► Attach original STIHL accessories for this
lawn mower as described in this instruction
manual or in the instruction manual for the
accessories.
► Do not insert objects into the apertures in
the lawn mower.
► Replace worn or damaged warning signs.
► If anything is unclear: consult a STIHL spe‐
cialist dealer.

Blade
The blade is in safe condition when the following
conditions are met:
– The blade and attachments are undamaged.
– The blade is not deformed.
– The blade is correctly attached.
– The blade is correctly sharpened.
– The blade is burr-free.
– The blade is correctly balanced.
– The minimum thickness and minimum width of
the blade are not fallen below,
