4.2

Shutting down the server node

CAUTION

This step is only required when upgrading or replacing non-hot-plug
components.
▶ Inform the system administrator that the server node will be shut down and
put offline.
▶ Terminate all applications.
▶ Perform the required procedures described in the preliminary steps of each
upgrade or maintenance task.
▶ Shut down the server node.
If the system is running an ACPI-compliant operating system (OS),
pressing the On/Off button will perform a graceful shutdown.
Power button override
The server node can be switched off (hard power off) by holding
down the On/Off button (approximately 4 - 5 seconds). If you keeping
the On/Off button to long, the system restarts automatically after the
system is turned off.

Removing server nodes from the server
enclosure
The server enclosure must always run with closed node bays. It is only
allowed to leave a bay open for a limited time in case of repairing a
server node (for example). In the meantime all remaining server nodes
run in throttling mode (with reduced performance).
