If you press the shutter button completely without pressing it halfway first, or if

you press the shutter button halfway and then press it completely immediately,
the camera will take a moment before it takes the picture.
Even during menu display or image playback, you can go back to shooting-

ready state by pressing the shutter button halfway.

While looking at the screen, turn the <6>
dial.
Use this dial to set the shutter speed,
aperture value, etc.
While looking at the screen, turn the <5>
dial.
During playback, you can magnify images
or switch to index display.
In Creative Zone modes, has the same
effect as pressing the shutter button
halfway.
