Vehicles with no clamping sleeve
– Cut the exhaust pipe at a right angle along the split cut
⇒ "1.3 Separating exhaust pipes/silencers", page 391
CAUTION
Risk of accident from weight of the rear silencer.
♦ A second mechanic is required to remove the rear silencer.
– Release screw left and right arrow -1-.
Note
Ignore -arrow-.
– Remove silencer -2-.
Vehicles with clamping sleeve
– Loosen the clamping sleeve -arrow- and slide it backwards.
CAUTION
Risk of accident from weight of the rear silencer.
♦ A second mechanic is required to remove the rear silencer.
– Release screw left and right arrow -1-.
– Remove silencer -2-.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order, while paying atten‐
tion to the following:
– Align exhaust system free of stress

Specified torques
⇒ "1.1 Assembly overview - silencers", page 381
♦ ⇒ General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr. 66 ; Underfloor trim
panel; Installation location overview - underfloor trim panels
