When the SHIFT command bank is active, pressing the remote
control dts button selects the appropriate dts(-ES) listening mode
for the current input source. Subsequent presses adjust the ES
DECODING parameter, cycling through the AUTO, ON, and OFF
settings. If the appropriate dts-ES listening mode is selected before
the dts button is first pressed, the first press of the button will
adjust the ES DECODING parameter setting.
The ES DECODING parameter is not available when the CUSTOM
SETUP menu SIDE L/R or REAR L/R parameters are set to NONE, or
the THX SETUP menu REAR L/R parameter is set to NONE.
Note:
When the ES DECODING parameter is set to ON for
5.1-channel dts(-ES) input sources, the SB level meter
will appear on the dts(-ES) STATUS menu.

ES ENCODING

Replaces the ES DECODE parameter on the dts(-ES) STATUS menu.
When the parameter value is DISCRETE, a discrete 6.1-channel
input source is present. When the parameter value is MATRIX, a
matrix 5.1-channel input source with a matrix-encoded surround
channel is present. When the parameter value is NONE, a standard
dts input source with no dts-ES encoding is present. The MC-12
cannot automatically detect dts-ES encoding for non-flagged
dts-ES-encoded input sources.
EX DECODING

Controls the Dolby Digital EX decoding feature. When set to
AUTO, the MC-12 engages Dolby Digital EX decoding for flagged,
encoded 5.1-channel Dolby Digital input sources recorded with
Dolby Digital Surround EX. The MC-12 does not engage Dolby
(DISCRETE, MATRIX, NONE)

Digital EX decoding for other 5.1-channel Dolby Digital input
sources, including non-flagged, encoded 5.1-channel Dolby Digital
sources recorded with Dolby Digital Surround EX. When set to ON,
the MC-12 engages Dolby Digital EX decoding for all 5.1-channel
Dolby Digital input sources. When set to OFF, the MC-12
disengages Dolby Digital EX decoding for all 5.1-channel Dolby
Digital input sources.

mode for the current input source. If the DOLBY DIGITAL EX
listening mode is selected, subsequent presses adjust the EX
DECODING parameter, cycling through the AUTO, ON, and OFF
settings. If another Dolby listening mode is selected, subsequent
presses have no effect. If the DOLBY DIGITAL EX listening mode is
selected before the DOLBY button is first pressed, the first press of
the button will adjust the EX DECODING parameter setting.
The EX DECODING parameter is not available when the CUSTOM
SETUP menu SIDE L/R or REAR L/R parameters are set to NONE, or
the THX SETUP menu REAR L/R parameter is set to NONE.

The MC-12 cannot automatically detect Dolby Digital Surround EX
encoding for non-flagged, encoded 5.1-channel Dolby Digital
input sources recorded with Dolby Digital Surround EX.
