Software Version 2.0 Release & Errata Notes
ZONE2 IN or RECORD IN

ANLG (Analog)

The assigned analog audio input
connector is sent to the ZONE 2 or
RECORD AUDIO OUTPUTS. The 5.1-
channel analog input connector is
not compatible with the ZONE 2 or
RECORD AUDIO OUTPUTS.
Audio is not available in Zone 2 or
the Record Zone when the 5.1-
channel analog input connector is
selected for the Main Zone, unless
the 5.1a BYPASS listening mode is
also selected for the Main Zone.
Analog input sources are sent to all
three RECORD AUDIO OUTPUTS.
Sources sent to the RECORD
AUDIO OUTPUT labeled S/PDIF are
sent through A/D conversion before
reaching the output. Sources sent
to the analog ZONE 2 or RECORD
AUDIO OUTPUTS are not sent
through A/D conversion.
Note:
When a multi-channel input source is present and the playback component includes the
appropriate decoder, it is recommended to set the ZONE2 IN or RECORD IN parameter to
ANLG for independent zone monitoring. When a multi-channel input source is present and
the playback component does not include the appropriate decoder, it is required to set the
ZONE2 IN or RECORD IN parameter to DMIX. When this setting is selected, independent
zone monitoring is not available.

DIGITAL

The assigned digital audio input
connector is sent to the ZONE 2 or
RECORD AUDIO OUTPUTS.
The ZONE 2 AUDIO OUTPUTS will
mute when an invalid digital audio
input source is present. PCM input
sources are the only valid digital
input sources. Dolby Digital and
dts(-ES) are not valid digital input
sources.
Digital input sources are sent to all
three RECORD AUDIO OUTPUTS at
the same time. Sources sent to the
analog ZONE 2 or RECORD AUDIO
OUTPUTS are sent through D/A
conversion before reaching the
output.
Sources
RECORD AUDIO OUTPUT labeled
S/PDIF are not sent through D/A
conversion.
A downmixed version of Main Zone audio is sent
to the ZONE 2 or RECORD AUDIO OUTPUTS.
Downmixes can be generated for Dolby Digital,
dts(-ES), and 5.1-channel analog input sources.
To generate a downmix, the input that is selected in
Zone 2 or the Record Zone must also be selected in
the Main Zone. Otherwise, the ZONE 2 or RECORD
AUDIO OUTPUTS will mute.
Main Zone listening mode selection affects the
ZONE 2 or RECORD AUDIO OUTPUTS. For example,
when the MONO listening mode is selected in the
Main Zone, Zone 2 or Record Zone output signals
will also be mono.
Downmixes cannot be generated when the 5.1a
BYPASS listening mode is selected in the Main Zone.
It is recommended to set the ZONE2 IN or RECORD
sent
to
the
IN parameter to DMIX when recording from a DVD
player without built-in Dolby Digital or dts-ES decoding
to a VCR or PVR (e.g. Tivo® or Replay TV®).
Independent zone monitoring is not available.
CAUTION

DMIX (Downmix)

When the ZONE2 IN or RECORD IN
parameter is set to DIGITAL or ANLG, the
MC-12 recognizes some dts-encoded input
sources as audio signals (not data signals)
and outputs loud digital noise from the ZONE
2 or RECORD AUDIO OUTPUTS.
