Crankcase disassembly
1. Remove:
• Crankcase bolts (M6 × 70 mm) 1–B
• Crankcase bolts (M10 × 85 mm) C–L
TIP
• Place the crankcase upside down on a
bench.
• The numbers embossed on the crankcase
indicate the crankcase tightening sequence.
2. Remove:
• Crankcase
TIP
• Insert a flat-head screwdriver between the
reinforced portions a of the cylinder block 1
and the crankcase 2 to separate them.
• Work carefully and make sure that the crank-
case halves separate evenly.
Connecting rod and piston removal
1. Remove:
• Nuts 1
• Connecting rod caps 2
• Big end bearings 3
TIP
For reference during installation, put identifica-
tion marks a on the connecting rod cap and
big end bearing.
