Install Pulling Head/Ball Screw Assembly (P, S) into Gear Case.
Slide Mast Housing (R) over Pulling Head/Ball Screw Assembly (P, S), aligning slots in housing with Tabs on
Front Clutch.
Thread Mast Housing (R) by hand (LEFT-HAND THREAD) ensuring Ball Screw is fully seated without
binding.
Torque Mast Housing to 25 N-m
Install Collet (A) and Nose Equipment (Ref. Section 5.2.2).
5.2.4 Functional Checkout Proceedures
FWD/REV Bar Check
Operate FWD/REV (J) bar to ensure bar has 3 detent positions:
Center (trigger locked)
FWD: Push to left when holding tool
REV: Push to right when holding tool
Move FWD/ REV bar (J) to REV position. (Fig. 7)
Pull trigger until audible sound of Front Clutch (Q) is heard while ensuring there is no movement of the
pulling head
Move FWD/REV bar (J) to FWD position.
Pull and hold the Trigger ensuring that the Collet (A) retracts. Hold until the clutch disengages (approx.
1 sec).
Release Trigger and ensure the Pulling Head returns to original position with Collet (A) protruding from
Nose Equipment.
Listen for any abnormal grinding noises during the Trigger Pull and Release process.
Pulling Head Travel Check: Full Stroke Test
Remove Nose Equipment.
Ensure tool is in FWD position
Note position of clutch tab against Mast Housing (R).
Pull and hold trigger until Pulling Head Adapter (P) fully retracts. Rear edge of Clutch tab should meet
leading edge of Mast Housing (R) as shown.
Release trigger and Pulling Head Adapter (P) should return to it's original position.
Pulling Head Travel Check: Partial Stroke Test
Ensure tool is in FWD position.
Note position of clutch tab against Mast Housing.
Pull Trigger (H) and quickly release when Pulling Head Adapter (P) travels approximately half the distance
intto Mast Housing (R) and release.
Ensure Pulling Head Adapter (P) returns to original position.
