Removable Media Area Drive Bays
The Compaq Professional Workstation 6000 and 8000 have four removable media
drive bays. The top two bays are occupied with a 3.5-inch diskette drive and a 16X
or 24X Max CD-ROM drive (IDE); the bottom two half-height 5.25-inch bays are
vacant.
Two half-height removable storage devices such as tape drives or hard drives can
be installed in the bottom two removable media drive bays. Also, one full-height
storage device such as a DLT tape drive can be installed in the area occupied by
the bottom two removable media drive bays. To install a device in this area and to
cable the device, refer to the installation documentation provided with the drive.
The illustrations below provide only an overview of removing the blank panel and
inserting a storage device.
